The number of beginning chains seems excessive for each size— using recommenced materials and following size small, 269 foundation chains is equal to 86 inches across the bottom— finished size according to pattern says a small 41 inches wide, not 86. Please advise. Thanks!

Dear Mrs Wieman, pattern is correct, you are here casting on more chains than the number of sts required on first round - read more here. Happy crocheting!

Buon lavoro!

What does it mean 'repeat dec. every 5 cm 2 more times"? This means dec 10 sts on next two row? Thank you!
21.11.2016 - 13:01DROPS Design answered:
Dear Lidia, you will dec 1 st before each marker every 2 cm 2 times - you will dec 10 sts (= 10 markers) on each of these 2 rows - and there will be 5 cm between each dec row. Happy crocheting!

STRIPE PATTERN: * Work 2 sc rows with off white, then 1 dc row and 1 sc row with navy blue *, repeat from *-*, do not cut the yarn after every stripe but let them follow upwards. CROCHET TIP: Beg every sc row with ch 1 and beg every dc row with ch 3 – these do not replace first sc/dc on row. -------------------------------------------------------- SKIRT: Worked back and forth from the left side. READ CROCHET TIP! Read US/UK above! Ch 269-292-315-339-374-409 on hook size 3 mm / C with navy blue. Turn and work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, then work 1 sc in each of the next 1-3-5-1-1-1 ch, * skip ch 1, work 1 sc in each of the next 6 ch *, repeat from *-* the rest of row = 230-250-270-290-320-350 sc. Turn and work 1 row with 1 dc in every sc. Turn and work 1 row with sc. Continue with STRIPE PATTERN - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! When piece measures 12-14-15-17-17-19 cm / 4¾"-5½"-6"-6¾"-6¾"-7½", insert 10 markers in piece as follows: First marker after 12-13-14-15-16-18 sts, then insert the next 9 markers 23-25-27-29-32-35 sts apart, then 11-12-13-14-16-17 sts remain after last marker. On next row skip 1 st before every marker, i.e. dec 10 sts. Repeat dec every 5 cm / 2" 2-2-2-2-3-3 more times, then every 3 cm / 1⅛" 2-2-3-3-2-2 times and finally every 2 cm / ¾" a total of 4-4-3-3-3-3 times - NOTE: Dec alternately before and after the markers. After all dec there are 140-160-180-200-230-260 sts on row and piece measures approx. 36-38-40-42-44-46 cm / 14¼"-15"-15¾"-16½"-17¼"-18". Continue stripe pattern until piece measures approx. 46-48-50-52-54-56 cm / 18"-19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22", finish after a navy blue stripe, fasten off. ASSEMBLY: Sew skirt tog edge to edge in the left side, leave an opening of approx. 18 cm / 7" at the top. BUTTON HOLE LOOPS: Along the opening towards front piece work button hole loops with navy blue as follows (beg at the bottom): 2 sc, ch 3, skip 1 cm / ⅜", * work sc for 2 cm / ¾", ch 3, skip 1 cm / ⅜" *, repeat from *-* a total of 5 times, finish with 2 sc at the top, turn and work back as follows: 1 sc in every sc and 3 sc in every ch space. BUTTON PLEAT: Along the other side of the opening work 3 rows with sc back and forth with navy blue, fasten off. Sew the buttons on to 1st row of button pleat so that they match the button hole loops. |
