While brainstorming Christmas gift ideas it can be really hard to decide what project to do next. That is why I am so thankful for the Stitch11 Facebook page! Stitch11 followers gave me some advice and ideas on what type of scarf to make. Big “Thank you!” to each of you. You have also helped me come up with more ideas for the near future.

With this free pattern, the first thing I did was look through my yarn stash. I wanted 3 colors that went well together and yarn that was soft enough to wanna snuggle with. I Love This Yarn never fails me. Another yarn that would work well is Red Heart With Love… but our stores stopped carrying it. Really, you could use any medium- worsted weight yarn with this… and even light weight yarn but with a larger hook, or with a smaller hook and more starting foundation single crochet.

When designing this scarf I wanted something I could fold three times to have the Cowl look, but not limited to that look. The great things about infinity scarves is that there are so many ways to wear them… use you imagination to get the perfect look for you!

Supplies

Medium-Worsted weight yarn (I used less than a half skein of each color- I Love This Yarn)
K-6.5 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle (for weaving in your ends)

Stitches

FSC – Foundation Single Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet
CH – Chain
Dc3Tog – Double Crochet Three Togehter
DC- Double Crochet

Colors

Color A- Red
Color B- Purple
Color C- Gray

*Tip* To change the length, increase or decrease the FSC by counts of 3.

With Color A
Row 1: FSC 219. Join to first (FSC)
With Color B
Row 2: CH 3, 2 DC into same stitch. Skip 2 Stitches. ** 3 DC into next stitch. Skip 2 stitches. Repeat from ** around. Join to top of CH 3.
Row 3:  CH 2, Dc3Tog. CH 2. **Dc3Tog, CH 2. Repeat from ** around. Join to the top of first Dc3Tog.
With Color C
Row 4: CH 1, HDC into same stitch. 2 HDC into CH space. ** HDC into the top of the Dc3Tog, 2 HDC into CH space. Repeat from ** around. Join to first HDC.
With Color A
Row 5: CH 3, 2 DC into same stitch. Skip 2 Stitches. ** 3 DC into next stitch. Skip 2 stitches. Repeat from ** around. Join to top of CH 3.
Row 6:  CH 2, Dc3Tog. CH 2. **Dc3Tog, CH 2. Repeat from ** around. Join to the top of first Dc3Tog.
With Color B
Row 7: CH 1, HDC into same stitch. 2 HDC into CH space. ** HDC into the top of the Dc3Tog, 2 HDC into CH space. Repeat from ** around. Join to first HDC.
With Color C
Row 8: CH 3, 2 DC into same stitch. Skip 2 Stitches. ** 3 DC into next stitch. Skip 2 stitches. Repeat from ** around. Join to top of CH 3.
Row 9:  CH 2, Dc3Tog. CH 2. **Dc3Tog, CH 2. Repeat from ** around. Join to the top of first Dc3Tog.
With Color A
Row 10: CH 1, HDC into same stitch. 2 HDC into CH space. ** HDC into the top of the Dc3Tog, 2 HDC into CH space. Repeat from ** around. Join to first HDC.
With Color B
Row 11: This is where I did a bobble edging. I found THIS free tutorial by Heidi Bears. She does the bobble in every other stitch by doing 2 Slip stitches after each bobble. Since our stitches go by counts of three, you will need to do 3 slip stitches after each bobble.  (the last slip stitch is in the same stitch as the next bobble)
With Color C
Row 12: Go to the other side of the scarf (the starting side) and repeat what you did with row 11.
Weave in your ends.
