Q: On the front opening, row 4 when I crocheted ch 62 then 53 SC anf 62 ch, turn - 53 sc and 62 ch I end up with two pieces connected by a chain. It doesn't look like the drawing at all. Where did I go wrong?

A: The Easy-to-Wear Cardigan is worked lengthwise from the left side to the right side. The sleeves and collar are then worked onto the body. When working the Front Opening section of the pattern, you will no longer be working the entire length of the 114 stitches. Rather, you will work 53 sc in rows 2 and 3. This is to create an opening for the front. Then, in Row 4, you will work 53 sc and chain 62 to get back to the full length of the front and back portions of the cardigan for the right side. I hope this explanation helps you envision how the cardigan is constructed. If you think you may need additional help, we would appreciate a good photo of your work so we can help you get back on track.

Q: Directions say this is made in one piece, from left to right so there are no actual sides to sew together and no place to put the sleeves. I need help please to understand these directions. Thanks

A: Made in one piece does not necessarily imply no seaming. This will need folded and seams added for the sides of the garment. The instructions you are asking about come in the pattern when you reach the section for the sleeves. At this point, you have finished the body and should have a piece of fabric that resembles the schematic on the last page of the pattern. First, you will fold the fabric, matching up stitches of the last row, and sew 38 stitches together for the side seam from the corner inward, leaving the center 38 stitches open for the armhole. Now, you attach your yarn, and crochet in rounds to make the sleeves. With wrong side facing, join yarn with slip st in any st at armhole edge. Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as 1 esc), esc in each st around armhole opening, join with slip st in beginning ch-2, turn – 38 esc. Once complete, you will work the second side seam and sleeve the same way.

Q: If I crothet the cardigan using the pattern I end up with an odd shaped square. Is it just me or is it the pattern. I love this cardigan and would love to finnish it.

A: Thank you for your question about the Easy-to-Wear Cardigan. You're right! It's a very interesting construction. The schematic in the pattern shows the base shape of the fabric you will create. Then, fold this piece in half, add two sleeves and a collar. I hope this gives you the understanding you need to crochet this fun as easy cardigan. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any additional questions.

Q: While working the cardigan section of the pattern, it says for next 14 rows alternate between row 1 and 2. Would it be a total of 28 rows?
