I LOVELOVELOVE the flow effect it has! |
Let's get started making this thing, shall we? You might need it with the blizzard like conditions ready to hit the New England area.
Materials: (pick colors you like!)
- 2 skeins Red Heart Boutique Sashay yarn (I used Shuffle)
- 1 skein Yarn Bee Boucle Traditions "Brushed" (I used Salt & Pepper)
- 1 skein pom pom yarn (see photo below for what these look like)
Yarns used. From Left to Right: Yarn Bee, Pom-pom Yarn, Sashay |
- size Q crochet hook (also noted as size 19/15.75)
- scissors
Notes:
You could easily turn this into a hooded cowl by making enough rows for it to come over your head.
Stitches used: American terminology but here's the converter link.
- Chain (ch)
- Double Crochet (dc)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
Pattern:
(using all three strands of yarn held together throughout pattern)
Start by chaining a number that will easily go over your head to form a circle. For me it was 32.
Ch 32. Join with a sl st to form a circle. Take care not to twist the ch. Ch 2.
Row 1: Dc in each stitch around. Join to top of first ch 2 with a sl st. Ch 2.
Rows 2 and 3: Repeat Row 1. Joining with a sl st, tie off and leave a 6" tail. It will become part of the Fringe. (If you're making a hooded cowl repeat Row 1 until it covers your head.)
Fringe:
Cut 32 strands of yarn from each color approximately 10" to 12" in length.
I left all 3 of my yarns together and just counted it as one when I was cutting the strands for the fringe. You want one Fringe tassel for each dc stitch in the pattern. Attach in the original ch of the project and trim to a length of your liking. My fringe is 8" to 10" after attaching. I left the edging a bit "distressed" looking because I thought it looked cool.
And there you have it. One great looking cowl. It's my new favorite!
I hate taking pics of myself . . . ugh. |
Until then, Peace and Blessings,
